In order to support her sister and her sister's small child, Mary Tracy leads a double life: by day, she works as a schoolteacher; nights, she dances in a cabaret show. Mary becomes interested in Bill Adams, whose mother is prominent in an anti-vice crusade, and therefore attempts to quit her job in the cabaret. Al Morton, the club's owner, holds her to her contract, however, and Mary is caught up in a police raid on the cabaret. The club is shut down, and Mary is fired from her teaching post. Morton threatens to expose Bill (who is running a crime syndicate with money embezzled from his father's bank), and Bill sets out to take Morton for a ride. Finally realizing that she has fallen in love with Morton, Mary calls the cops and saves him from certain death. Bill is arrested, and Mary and Morton decide to get married.

Chicago After Midnight(en)

Gangster Jim Boyd serves a 15-year prison term when Hardy, a rival crook, doublecrosses him. On his release from prison, Boyd seeks out Hardy in Chicago, where he runs a cafe and bootleg operation. He makes the acquaintance of Mona Gale, a dancer in Hardy's cafe who is engaged to marry Jack Waring, the orchestra leader. Unaware that Mona is his daughter, Boyd shoots Hardy in a brawl and leaves behind evidence implicating Waring as the murderer. After Hardy's death, Mona joins Boyd's gang to gather evidence proving her fiancé's innocence. The gang members discover that Mona has dealings with the police, and they begin to torture her. Having learned of Mona's relationship to him at the last minute, Boyd arrives at the gang's hideout in time to save her. He confesses to killing Hardy before he dies from a wound inflicted by one of his own gang, thus freeing Waring to marry Mona.

After the scandal Amy is courted by Tony Channing, but she returns to her husband and finds him near death from gas fumes. Because they both attempted to make suicide, their spirits are rejected by "the other side," and learning the truth from Bertha's spirit they fight their way back to life. In the future (1921), an alliance of several foreign countries plot to attack the US. American officials, coming to the realisation that the country is basically defenceless, offer $1,000,000 to anyone who can come up with a weapon to defeat the invaders. Winthrop Clavering, a writer and inventor, hears of the reward and tells his friend Bartholomew Thompson, a scientist and inventor who has been working on developing flying torpedo. However, enemy agents have also heard about Thompson's project, and set out to kill him and steal his plans. This film is now considered lost.

The narrative hinges on Jason's vow to wreak vengeance on his father for abandoning his mother. But his father dies, and Jason turns his desire for revenge against Sunlocks, his father's son of another wife. Both Sunlocks and Jason are in love with Greeba, daughter of the governor of the Isle of Man. Sunlocks and Jason go to Iceland, and are confined in prison. Jason not knowing Sunlocks, saves his half-brother from death in the mines. Jason is freed, but Sunlocks is condemned to death. Greeba pleads for Sunlocks' life, and Jason sacrifices himself by taking Sunlocks' place and dying for him. -- Wikipedia

Spoiled rich boy Johnny Bromley, goaded by the sneering laughter of the cheap Dot and by his father's open contempt, retires to a prizefighters' training camp for rehabilitation. There he meets Jenny Killian, daughter of the camp owner whose encouragement and love help him overcome the unpleasant memories of Dot's accusations of cowardice. When at last he is a success, he wins the hand of Jenny in marriage and his parent's forgiveness; upon meeting his former rival (The Broker) with Dot, he surprises him with a swift punch in the jaw.
