Most recently, the federal government announced a major road building project that will provide year round access to Zanskar. How can Zanskar's wilderness be preserved? The interviews are interwoven with dance scenes and colourful vignettes set to authentic music.

The film approaches the work of the Greek artist Nikos Koniaris. The particular way in which the painter depicts human suffering is presented through a film - a hybrid of real recording and directed material. All together contribute to the depiction of man as a "garment of pain".
