In the same year in Chiang Mai, students demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Prayut Chan--cha. In 2022, Weerasethakul filmed the "Rio Madre de Dios", while travelling in Peru. These three situations prompted the artist to examine the philosophy of Krishnamurti, who posited that reaction to things belongs to the past and cannot help humankind advance, while action is performed in full consciousness, without making a choice nor being influenced.

The film tells the story of Omar, a construction worker from Villa Elisa, a small town in the province of Entre Ríos, Argentina, who rejects the idea that big screens may disappear. He will do anything he can to preserve that which he has held on to since he was a child, even though he has to build it with the remnants of what was.

The Kitchen contains household objects which come to life and hold an animated conversation. The Little Match Girl updates Andersen's heart-rending tale to London's East End in the late seventies. Little Ida is an inspired celebration of dance featuring members of the Royal Ballet.

Billy Rose's Casa Mañana Revue(en)

The scene is set at Billy Rose's Casa Manana Revue, filmed at the Fort Worth Frontier Fiesta (1937), an enormous production created as part of the Texas Centennial civic celebrations. The opening song, "The Night Is Young And You're So Beautiful" emanated from the first edition of the Revue and became a hit song on two continents in 1936.
