The premise of the series revolves around the daily lives of different couples of all ages from 20 to 65, but who are not connected to each other. Each couple has their own space where they live, while the story of each couple in each episode is not connected to the stories of the other couples.

An unscreened pilot was made with comic Duncan Norvelle as presenter but it was eventually hosted by Cilla Black, who already hosted the LWT series, Surprise, Surprise. Blind Date ran on Saturday nights from 30 November 1985 to 31 May 2003. Blind Date will return for a one-off special in late 2013, to celebrate Black's 50-year career in the entertainment industry. This special one-off will be part of another programme, The One and Only Cilla Black, presented by Paul O'Grady. Blind Date producers are aiming to bring back some of the show's most memorable contestants who are still single, giving them a second chance to win a date.

However, this marriage between the literary and martial families aroused the fear of Mingde, a high-ranking official in the court. So Mingde designed to promote Cheng Wendao's sworn brother Gao Jianxiong, and falsely passed on the imperial decree to exterminate Cheng Wendao's family. Gao Jianxiong, who felt guilty, let Cheng Wendao go, but the two had a grudge from then on. The seriously injured Wendao was rescued by Shaolin monks and taken to Shaolin Pharmacy for treatment, and a story about "Zen, martial arts, and medicine" began.
