Hello explores changes in two people’s working lives: a Mexican trash picker who separates and collects recyclable materials from landfills to sell by the kilo, and a German freelance computer-animation designer working for the advertising industry in Berlin. The double interview is controlled and manipulated by a computer-generated severed hand which Maria describes as an object once discovered in the trash while working in the violent northern town of Mexicali. This CGI hand was in turn produced by Max, who was born with no arms, and sought refuge in computer-imaging as a means to operate and manipulate a digital reality.

These paranoid leaders were driven to abuse their power by the pathology of power itself. Dictators are driven by a relentless, thought-out determination to impose themselves as infallible, all-knowing and all-powerful beings. But they are also men ruled by their caprices, uncontrollable impulses, and reckless fits of frenzy, which paradoxically render them as human as anyone else. The abuses they committed were clearly atrocious, yet some of them were as outlandish as the characters portrayed in the film The Dictator. They sunk to depths worthy of Kafka: so incredibly absurd, they are outrageously funny.

Uganda: Hounds of Hope(de)

For twenty years, the rebel militia Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) fought to overthrow the government. According to UNICEF estimates, the rebels abducted between 35,000 and 66,000 children during this time. They were forcibly recruited as soldiers and sexually enslaved. Tens of thousands of civilians were murdered, mutilated or tortured. Over 90 percent of the population in northern Uganda lived in refugee camps. Although these times are over, many people still suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. To help them, the animal welfare organization Big Fix is resorting to an unusual means: street dogs. Thousands of stray and often neglected dogs roam Uganda's towns and villages. But it is precisely these animals that can bring comfort to lonely and emotionally distressed people.

This is the story about that amazing triumph - and what happened next. David Hemery retired to respectable fame and fortune, later becoming president of the UK's athletics federation. John Akii Bua returned to a Uganda carving the name of its military "President", Idi Amin, into genocidal notoriety. Francisco Chavez Raymundo and his sister were small children when Rios' political actions annihilated their community. In March, 2013 the lives of Francisco Chavez and Rios Montt converge in the same space. Rios is called upon to testify before Guatemalan justice and is confronted by a group of Mayan Ixiles, orphans and widows of the war, Francisco is one of them.
