Once a year, on the Thirteenth night, they were allowed to come on land, strip off their skins and amuse themselves as human beings, dancing and enjoying themselves. This short film explores the legend of Kópakonan, literally meaning “the Seal Woman”, one of the best-known folktales in the Faroe Islands.

But, as the devil says, everyone can decide for themselves whether to choose the path to hell. You can see how it turned out for Lešek and who the devil took away in this fairy tale based on Polish folk motifs.

Nebojsa was the nickname given to a young man who was not afraid of anything. One day he heard that a cursed princess lived in a castle. Whoever could uncurse her would have her as his wife and half the kingdom. Dear Nebojsa went out into the world to try his luck. He experienced many adventures until he reached the goal of his journey. But the greatest danger awaited him in the mysterious castle. If he wanted to uncurse the princess, he had to fulfill a difficult condition: no matter what evil was done around him and to him, he was not allowed to reveal, even with a word, that he was afraid. Well, he certainly wouldn't be Nebojsa if he didn't fulfill this task. And so he won the princess and the kingdom.

Greek mythology has always inspired creators of various artistic genres. No wonder, for Greek myths offer countless dramatic tales of strength, courage and bravery, of fear and hatred, but also of love. The poet Kamil Bednář has retold one of the most beautiful mythical stories, O Amor and Psyche, in which love plays a major role. His fairy tale about Princess Soul served as a model for a television production directed by S. Simonová.

This romantic fairy tale, loosely based on an anonymous Arabic story, takes place at the sultan's court, where the evil sisters of the kind sultana prepare a cruel fate for Parisada and Pervis. Although it seems that fate favors the hateful malice of the poor twins' ruthless aunts, the fairy tale still comes to a happy ending.

A Chod folk tale in which the evil Markyta envies her friend Marjánka her husband and especially the pub they share. One day, on her way back from the fair, he drowns her and takes her place. In time, when she starts to resent Marjanka's son, she drowns him too, not knowing that they are not both dead, but thanks to her delusions they live on in the pond. The brave and courageous Hanky learns everything and forces Markyta to confess and rescues them both.
