Jamal El Gouji, born in 2002. Grew up in an environment where art was scarcely present. When the opportunity arose, he chose to pursue cinema. began his studies at the National Higher School of Art and Design in 2022, where he started shaping his artistic vision and cinema language.
After two years, he directed Shadows of Silence (2024), his first short film, created as part of his academic work. The film marked his debut as a director and has since been selected by several film festivals.
He completed his third year at Ibn Tofail University in 2024, specializing in Audiovisual Game Design and Interactive Multimedia, and worked collectively on a documentary project focused on Moroccan youth in the cinema field.
In 2025, Jamal led a cinema workshop for incarcerated minors as part of the Oukacha Film Festival, using cinema as a tool for expression and opening new perspectives for youth. That year, he also served as a film programmer for the International Independent Film Festival, contributing to the pre-selection of films for the official competition.
Jamal’s work focuses on creating imagined worlds through the eyes of his generation, with a strong commitment to producing socially engaged art that places human needs at its core.
