Eddie Applegate (October 4, 1935 – October 17, 2016, Height 5 feet 9 inches [1.75 m]) was an American television actor, best known for his work in the 1960s, most notably in the role of Richard Harrison, the boyfriend of Patty Lane on The Patty Duke Show. He was born in Wyncote, Pennsylvania.
Applegate began his acting career in the early 1960s, appearing in guest roles on such television series as The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. In 1963, he was cast as Richard Harrison on The Patty Duke Show, a popular sitcom about a teenage girl with a split personality. Applegate remained with the show for its entire run, from 1963 to 1966.
After The Patty Duke Show, Applegate continued to work in television, appearing in such series as The Wild Wild West, The Monkees, and Happy Days. He also appeared in a few films, including Easy A (2010) and Rain from Stars (2013).
In his later years, Applegate retired from acting and moved to Chatsworth, California, where he lived with his common-law wife Betty. He died in 2016 at the age of 81.
In addition to his acting career, Applegate was also an active member of the San Fernando Valley Art Club, serving as vice president. He was a talented artist and painter, and his work has been exhibited in several galleries in the Los Angeles area.
