John Ashby and Allene Houston, two neighboring ranchers, are in love, but their parents' violent dispute over the route of the new X. Y. Z. Railroad eventually drives them apart. Colonel Houston and the elder Ashby are killed in a fight, leaving John and Allene to continue the feud, John accepting a job with the railroad company and Allene swearing never to cross their property.

Dorothy enters Cambridge’s apartment to recover the idol secretly. Cameo Kirby is a 1914 American drama silent film directed by Oscar Apfel and written by Clara Beranger and William C. deMille. The film stars Dustin Farnum, Fred Montague, James Neill, Jode Mullally, Winifred Kingston and Dick La Reno. It is based on the play Cameo Kirby by Booth Tarkington and Harry Leon Wilson. The film was released on December 24, 1914, by Paramount Pictures.

Harpo played the hero, a detective named Watson who "made his entrance in a high hat, sliding down a coal chute into the basement". Groucho played an "old movie" villain, who "sported a long moustache and was clad in black", while Chico was probably his "chuckling [Italian] henchman". Zeppo portrayed a playboy who was the owner of a nightclub in which most of the action took place, including "a cabaret, [which allowed] the inclusion of a dance number". The final shot showed Groucho "in ball and chain, trudging slowly off into the gloaming". Harpo, in a rare moment of romantic glory, gets the girl in the end. This film is lost.

They apply for positions at Belfonte's restaurant. Harris secures a job as head-waiter and Chester is appointed as one of the regular staff. Harris's fiancée has an engagement with her chum to take dinner with her at the restaurant. They boys pay so much attention to the girls that they neglect the other patrons, who make a kick and complain to the proprietor.

A "stranger from the city" arrives in a rural town and immediately causes trouble. A struggling father who is in danger of losing the family home to a mortgage. To save the property, the father tries to force his daughter—who already has a local sweetheart—to marry the wealthy "city chap". The comedy stems from a series of identity swaps involving the wedding veil. Two country maidens are involved; one is ignored while the other is wooed by the city stranger. The "unwilling bride" (the daughter) keeps swapping her veil with a "willing bride" to avoid the ceremony. The veil is passed back and forth several times until the city chap and the father's favored suitor are eventually outwitted.

The night of the grand reception and dance finds Belle Oakley in high glee as she leaves for the reception. She arrives at the reception and discovers that she is without her dancing shoes. She announces her loss and immediately all the young men volunteer to go in search of them. Harry Brown, who was not as quick as the others, is left behind and sits dejectedly on the curb while the others drive away.
