Overview
An orphan named Nikolay Najdenov went through the hell of the war in Afghanistan and the horrors of captivity. From now on he is a US citizen and his name is Nick McCann. In the US he has a family and new life, but in his country of birth, Ukraine, there are still some unpaid bills remaining, so the tough American boy goes back to his home country, where he learns about the death of his best friend, and soon after that his friend's wife got killed, too. Naydenov decides to revenge their death...

We see what they eat, where they sleep, and how they respond to media scrutiny, on-going trials, the shrinking of their fortunes, and the criticism of society. Central focus is placed on Hiroshi Araki, a young man who finds himself elevated to chief spokesman for Aum after its leaders are arrested. Araki faces extreme hostility from the Japanese public, who find it hard to believe that most followers of the cult had no idea of the attacks and even harder to understand why these followers remain devoted to the religion, if not the violence.
