Iren, who went to visit her grandmother with her mother (Lal), finds her grandmother dead at home. Lal is forced to stay at the deceased mother's house with her child (Iren) for a while to host guests and clean the house. Due to the stress of the situation, Iren is unable to speak (selective mutism/temporary mutism). Lal becomes overly protective of her daughter due to her mutism. Her greatest fear is leaving more wounds with her death than she did while alive. Already afraid of leaving permanent marks, Lal cannot remove the stain left on the wooden floor where her mother died and becomes increasingly tense. In an attempt to conceal it, she covers the stain with a cabinet and tries to entertain guests this way. Meanwhile, Iren begins to hear noises coming from under the unrevealed stain. Despite Lal's efforts to protect her daughter, Iren starts to become a part of the family amid these sounds.

The Driver manages to destroy his pursuers, but refuses to proceed without knowing the contents of the damaged briefcase. It is revealed that the diplomat guards a human heart for a peacekeeper, whose life is needed for the continued freedom of the people. The case is delivered, and the tyrant is forced to give up his attempt to take the country by force. The Driver leaves for another mission.

Jacobs answers the driver curiosity about why he is a photographer by saying how his mother taught him to see. He gives the Driver the film needed for a New York Times story and also his dog tags to give to his mother. When they reach the border, they are confronted by a guard who begins to draw arms as Jacobs begins taking pictures, trying to get himself killed. The Driver drives through a hail of gunfire to the border, but finds Jacobs killed by a bullet through the seat. The Driver arrives in America to visit Jacobs' mother and share the news of him winning the Pulitzer prize and hand over the dog tags, only to discover that she is blind.

2036: Nexus Dawn(en)

This in-world short film takes place in the year 2036 and revolves around Jared Leto’s character, Niander Wallace. In this short, Wallace introduces a new line of “perfected” replicants called the Nexus 9, seeking to get the prohibition on replicants repealed. This no doubt has serious ramifications that will be crucial to the plot of Blade Runner 2049.
