Along the way, they encountered residents and victims of the massive typhoon, and with each step it became increasingly clear just how devastating this storm was. Siddhartho Chowdhury, a brilliant young medical student, is forced to leave his studies after his father's sudden demise. He is forced to navigate the high unemployment rate and the communist socio-political climate of 1960s Calcutta in search of a job. He lives in a flat with his younger, employed sister, revolutionary brother and widowed mother. The strain of the situation ultimately causes him to hallucinate.

After her husband is killed in an accident at work, Noi has to find a job in order to raise her two daughters who are still teenagers, Val and Vanee. Val has a boyfriend named Ratch, but she has to sell herself to Uttasit in exchange for money to pay her mother’s hospital bills. Uttasit wants more of Val so he goes to look for Val, but he finds Vanee instead. Vanee is pregnant because of Uttasit and dies from abortion. Val wants to kill Uttasit, but before she can do anything, Noi breaks in and shoots down Uttasit and surrenders to the police. Later, Noi and Val find out that Ratch actually is Uttasit’s son.

On June 9, 1997, Ben Folds Five was one of the first guests to appear on a new series called Sessions at West 54th. Because of the 1/2 hour time constraint of the show, only a handful of the recorded tracks made it to air. The DVD contains the entire performance which, for the most part, includes tracks from their just released album, Whatever and Ever Amen. The DVD includes Spare Reels, a 45 minute film which contains live performances and clips of the band in various and random situations. It also contains clips of Ben Folds Five during the studio sessions for their then upcoming album, The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner.
