The scene of the drama is a block of modern flats. Many of the residents are away at a dance, and the janitor and his staff decide upon a jollification of their own. They invite their friends to a fine high tea. Everybody is having a fine time, and their spirits are running high. We are now taken to the outside of the hall door, and watch with amusement the frantic pounding and bell ringing of the residents returning from their evening engagements and seeking admission to their apartments. The gay gathering inside are too busy with their own pleasure to heed the angry crowd outdoors. A policeman is called, but all to no purpose, and the tenants are all taken to the station for quarters for the night. Returning to the janitor's quarters we see that the jollifications have been concluded and the guests are all departing. The superior officer at the station concludes to make another effort to gain admittance in the building and, with the tenants at his heels, he approaches the flats.

He begins to spin a tale from his time living in the city. He talks about his rat friend Hubert and working together with him in a large supermarket. The rats undertook a great and responsible mission. Hubert and Archibald, at night, when the store was deserted by the crowds of customers and the staff employed there, would go out to the big sales floor and sample the goods sold there. They did this for the sake of consumers, so as not to expose them to the consequences of buying expired products.

In "Once Upon a Wintertime" (1954), a young couple go ice skating, where they are joined by a pair of rabbits. "Santa's Workshop" (1932) shows Santa's little helpers working hard to finish making toys before Christmas. From the Silly Symphonies series, "The Night Before Christmas" is an animated retelling of the iconic poem, "A Visit from St. Nicholas". "Pluto's Christmas Tree" features the mischievous Chip and Dale taunting Pluto from within the branches of a Christmas tree. In "On Ice", Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pluto all enjoy winter sports. "Donald's Snow Fight" pits Donald Duck against nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie in a snowball war.
