A German-born director of an American television station travels through Bavaria with a folk music impresario to do research for a show to be broadcast directly to the United States. He comes into contact with all kinds of people and all kinds of different expressions of Bavarian folk music.
7.0Jonathan, a well-fed ship's cook, and his friend Michael go ashore in an oriental port city after a long sea voyage. They cannot resist the lure of an enticing drug den, where they are mercilessly plied with drink and robbed. They find refuge with the wealthy passenger Hieronymus Walden, who is staying at a luxury hotel. However, the two Bavarians must agree to rescue his granddaughter Kathi, who has disappeared into an oriental harem.

The planned construction of a railroad line to connect the small town of Dornstein with the wider world. But instead of the shortest and most practicable connection, the route runs through swampy terrain far away from Dornstein. So the mayor goes to Munich to make representations to the ministry. He achieved nothing, but his trip was soon stylized in Dornstein as a campaign against those up there. This leads the magistrate to break off his engagement to the mayor's daughter because of the latter's well-known hostility towards the government. And the people of Dornstein also start to get cold feet ...
6.0At a press conference, Bavarian Minister President Reitmayer makes an unclear and ill-considered statement about Bavaria's possible withdrawal from the Federal Republic of Germany, sparking a discussion of unimagined proportions in the press and media. The excitement surrounding his words quickly becomes too much for Reitmayer and so he withdraws from the public eye and flees to a remote area in the Bavarian countryside. In doing so, however, he offends his family, to whom he has not revealed his whereabouts: Without further ado, his children Kathi and Martl set off in search of him. In the process, they not only learn a lot about their family, but also about their native Bavaria and its various regions. Meanwhile, the Minister President who has gone into hiding has found happiness, but for better or worse he must return to the public eye in order to calm the still raging debate...

And to make matters worse, his overzealous father, a retired village policeman, starts his own investigation. While the detective falls into an excavated grave in pursuit of a suspect, Kluftinger Senior's investigations lead to the arrest of the murder victim's illegally employed cleaning lady. She has nothing to do with the bloody deed, but puts the detective on the trail of mysterious truck deliveries from Eastern Europe.

7.4Alois Hingerl, porter no. 172 at the Munich train station, gets into heaven. St. Peter introduces him to the heavenly house rules: “rejoicing” and “singing hallelujah”. Of that, “Angel Aloisus” is not very edified, especially since he is supposed to get “heavenly manna” instead of Munich beer. Due to a few irksome events at the side, his dissatisfaction is only increased. Angrily, he sits down on his cloud in order to rejoice and sing hallelujah. But that sounds in such a way that the heavenly population’s hair stood on end. In his indignation, Alois even doesn’t mince his words towards the Lord. The latter gives in and orders Alois to deliver the divine afflatus to the Bavarian government. He sends him immediately with a corresponding letter to Munich. As “angel Aloisius” comes back home, he at once goes to the Hofbräuhaus. And like this, the Bavarian government waits till today for the divine afflatus in vain.
4.3Two young prostitutes decide to settle on a farm in the outskirts of an idyllic Bavarian mountain village. Initially, this is a pain in the neck for the village council and the local clergy, but the moral guardians soon reveal themselves to be lacking in steadfast ideals.
