This African archipelago, a former French colony, has been mired in poverty and political instability for decades. It is now ruled with an iron fist by Colonel Azali Assoumani. Fatima's goal: to bring down the regime and bring back democracy to her people.

The film follows various individuals as they go through the different stages of their day. Some of these people clearly have some sort of mental disabilities, physical disabilities, and possible drug or alcohol problems. That also references the film’s alternate title The Great White Apocalypse.
