5.8Ava Gardner: Life Is Bigger Than the Movies(fr)
A barefoot contessa, a screwed-up princess, an exquisite drunk, a bawdy aristocrat, a nightmare for puritanical America and the moguls of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Ava Gardner never stopped loving those she loved. Ocharcoaga(es)
Filmed to praise the work of the Spanish Ministry of Housing in solving the problem of shanty towns in Bilbao, it was made to be viewed by General Franco and not for public screening or distribution through the NO-DO newsreel. Although the short film was commissioned by the Ministry of Housing, director Jorge Grau produced a subtly critical work.
6.5Cuenca(es)
A medium-length documentary commissioned by the Cuenca City Council. The documentary shows an honest, sincere, although sometimes mere tourist portrait, of the lands of Cuenca and its people, without artifice or imposture, with feeling and authenticity and at the same time with marked coldness.
Time(nl)
The point of departure for this film is the 1981 composition De Tijd by Dutch composer Louis Andriessen. Van der Keuken leaves the music undisturbed as an autonomous soundtrack and has the images engage in a sort of battle with it. These images are associations, fragments of events, scenes and situations. The film is preceded by a text by Bert Schierbeek.
5.2Working Women(pl)
Stylized with dramatic interiors and a distorted frame rate, this early documentary miniature from Szulkin depicts six sequences of solitary, repetitious labor.
