Overview
Chad Keeler hates his father for abandoning him when he was a boy of 10. His father, Alonzo, has become a believer but doesn't know how to reach out to his son. To make matters worse, a group of gold-hungry thieves sets out to kill him for the treasure map that he determines to use as a peace offering with his son.

When the truth is revealed, the wayward cowboy switches to the side of the Law, while another of the gangster's flunkeys (Claire Trevor) reveals herself to be an honest newspaperwoman -- and thus a suitable candidate for romance.

Unbeknownst to Wilson, the son of his longtime rival, Terry Turner (who's also in love with his daughter, Eva), has contacted the railroad to arrange for them to build through the land, making the old man rich and hopefully resolving the feud. But the evil Red Baxter, owner of a saloon, tricks the boys out of the deed, and it's up to them - as well as Quale, who naturally finds his way out west anyway - to save the day.
