Before there was ever a 108, Inside Out or Quicksand, there was Beyond. And in 1988, Tom Capone and Kevin Egan took their seven song demo recorded in their hometown of Holbrook, NY and brought it to Some Records on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. From there, everything took off. WHAT AWAITS US, A Beyond Story is a documentary that, not only chronicles the history of the New York Hardcore band, Beyond, including their origin, their adventures and their demise after recording what is now considered an iconic record, but also depicts Egan's journey from New York to California as he tries to figure out where Beyond fits into his life today. The film includes interviews with members of the band, along with interviews with members of Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Judge, Burn, Bold and more.

Somewhere Below 14th & East: The Lost Photography Of Karen O'Sullivan(en)

In the early 1980s, Karen O'Sullivan made her way from where she grew up on Manhattan, NY's Upper West Side to the then-desolate Lower East Side to photograph the burgeoning scenes of hardcore punk and hip hop. "Somewhere Below 14th & East" is the first collection of Karen's photos, compiling over 150 images of artists as diverse as The Clash, Run DMC, Iggy Pop, Beastie Boys, Minor Threat, UTFO, Misfits, and Whodini, as well as the various characters and ne'er-do-wells brave enough to witness history in the making. With its combination of O'Sullivan's striking imagery and first-hand accounts by those who were there, "Somewhere Below 14th & East" chronicles an extraordinary time where boundless possibility and stifling desperation intersected to create one of the most vital and creative times in New York's history.

The New Breed Documentary chronicles a cassette compilation put out by Freddy Alva & Chaka Malik in 1989. New York Hardcore was undergoing a transition at the end of the 80's & this generational shift was exemplified by the bands that were featured on the compilation.The story of the tape is at heart the story of NYC & kids that grew up in it's five boroughs as well as related outposts in Long Island/Yonkers. A unique set of social/economic circumstances during the 70's & 80's forged the individuals that went on to make up the New York Hardcore scene. This full length documentary profiles band members/fanzine editors/record label heads & fans that made up this vibrant scene with narration by NYHC book author Tony Rettman. It's unheard of for a feature film to focus on an outdated analog format like a cassette compilation but it is through the eyes of these individuals that a spotlight is shined onto those tumultuous times & what is ultimately a tribute to a bygone era.
