Overview
Layabout Al Beresford is in a position of responsible in the brokerage film he works in only because of his smart and self-sacrificing wife Mary. While he dawdles and wastes his time she works behind the scenes to complete his work in order to save his position. One day when Al is out wandering Mary delivers important documents she's completed to Wall Street broker Elihu Jasper. He in turn is charmed by her and offers Al a job, though he recognizes his worthlessness. Jasper offers him many tips and with Mary's support Al prospers. Foolishly not realizing it is due to the work of others Al leaves Mary and is soon ruined, taking desperate measures he frees Mary to enjoy a life with Elihu.

Devdas is sent off to Calcutta, while Paro is married off to an aged rich widower. In Calcutta, as remorse drives him to alcohol, Devdas meets Chandramukhi, a prostitute. All Indian prints of this Bengali version were destroyed in a fire that ravaged New Theatre’s studios. Today, only one copy of the film survives which belongs to the Bangladesh Film Archives. Of that copy almost forty percent is destroyed.

Rather than reveal the truth -- that he has misappropriated funds from his own company -- Merrill claims that he has been ruined by young John Cook (Clifford Bruce), Hope's sweetheart.

The Valiants of Virginia(en)
When his opponent is killed after a duel over the honor of Virginia belle Judith Fairfax John Valiant flees North. Before taking flight John entrusts a note of explanation for Judith to Major Bristow. Bristow, however, has designs on the belle and withholds the missive. As the years pass John founds a successful business, loses his wife in childbirth and Judith marries Tom Dandridge and has a daughter, Shirley. Many years later, John Jr., now head of the Valiant Corporation, returns to his father’s estate during a financial crisis and falls in love with Shirley Dandridge. To rekindle her romance with John, Katherine tells Shirley of the family feud and Shirley suddenly cools toward John. On his deathbed, Barstow finally gives Judith John's letter in which John reveals that Edward had shot himself during the duel. John and Shirley are happily reconciled.

Gang War(en)
Saxophone player Clyde meets a woman named Flowers, and teaches her to dance. He later discovers that gangster boss "Blackjack" is also in love with her. "Blackjack" is also battling gang boss Mike Luego in a violent turf war.

Horse Shoeing(xx)
One of the pictures to be seen in the machine, for example, was that of a blacksmith shop in which two men were working, one shoeing a horse, the other heating iron at the forge. One would be seen to drive the nail into the shoe of the horse's hoof, to change his position and every movement needed in the work was clearly shown as if the object was in real (life). In fact, the whole routine of the two men's labor and their movements for the day was presented to the view of the observer.

A candidate for governor, eager Gerald Harper persuades his equally ambitious wife Carol to enlist the aid of her friend Diana Casper, whose influence with political boss Jarvis Flint could help him win the election. Carol agrees to speak to Diana on condition that Gerald temporarily assume her work in the city's tenements.

The Amazing Wife(en)
Through a series of tragic circumstances Cicely Osborne finds herself alone in the world after her new husband is slain. Taking note that a lieutenant with the same name as her husband has died in the war, she presents herself to his aristocratic parents as his widow and soon ingratiates herself. Only John's disabled cousin Philip suspects her. John returns, having only been wounded, and seeing that his mother loves Cicely, he continues the masquerade, slowly falling in love with Cicely. When Philip threatens exposure the cousins fight causing John's war wound to reopen. Thinking that he is dying, John summons a priest, who solemnizes his union with Cicely. John later recovers and the two resume their life together.
Coals of Fire(en)
Pretty young Nell Bradley is the daughter of a saloonkeeper in a "dry" town, and is looked down upon by townspeople, but Rev. Charles Alden, the town minister, finds himself attracted to her. One day at Nell's father's bar, a traveling salesman gets a young woman intoxicated, intending to "have his way" with her. Nell sees this and gets the bartender to save the young woman's virtue, but just at that moment Rev. Alden walks in and mistakenly believes that Nell has gotten the girl drunk. Complications ensue.

At the Road's End(en)
The young contractor scrapes acquaintance with the girl by petting her dog, and, having met her mother, insinuates himself into the old lady's good graces. But he cannot fool the dog, and so aggressive does the animal become that the girl's mother gives it to a passing farmer. The girl is forced to accept the contractor's attentions, notwithstanding that she has a favored suitor, a young man of the town. In desperation she runs away, intending to join her lover, but on the road she is overtaken by the contractor, who brings word that the dog has been badly hurt and may not live. Anxiety over her pet disarms her suspicions, and she enters the schemer's motor car. Her suitor sees her struggling with the abductor, boards a trolley car, and overtaking the automobile, leaps into it to fight for his love.

Note that this was one of a series of boxing films with the same characters, and each new film in the series was called a "round" (appropriate for a series of boxing movies!), but these movies were not serials, just connected by having the same characters. This card is from the second series, 11th round, "Beauty and the Feast".

Meanwhile, his wife Liza, presuming him dead, marries the other man, Victor.
