10.0Loosely based on Franz Kafka’s short story, 'GIVE IT UP!' is a live-action animation odyssey through the confusion of life in the modern world. The narrative follows a lone salesman trapped in a timeless city, increasingly lost in his feverish dreams. Desperate, he races towards a train station as his last hope of escaping the city, encountering divine light, winding roads and the forces of bureaucracy. This deeply personal and referential work preserves Kafka’s absurd humour and pays homage to Weimar cinema of the 1920s, but also elevates the text to an existential meditation on authority, purpose and human helplessness.

10.0Steven Berkoff's iconic adaptation of Franz Kafka’s novella, which tells the tale of a traveling salesman who is transformed into an insect, is brought to life in this highly physical and visually striking production. Captured live at the Parco Theater in Tokyo, this landmark performance is in Japanese with English subtitles. Considered one of Berkoff’s masterpieces and performed multiple times since it first appeared in 1969, Metamorphosis combines elements of sound, physicality and minimalist design to recreate Kafka’s absurdist world on stage.

2.0Piet is gone tells the story of Piet Beentjes, who went missing on the isle of Texel in 1987. For 30 years, Toos Beentjes has desperately tried to uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of her homosexual brother. In vain. The police saw no reason to investigate the case: 'Eventually, he’ll wash up. And if not, the tourists will find him.' The film is not a quest for Piet Beentjes, but tells the story of what happened before and after the disappearance. About the Kafkaesque world Toos entered after her brother disappeared. A world of routine, lackadaisical interest and a lame police investigation.
