The unsuccessful young writer lives a hermit far from the city on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. His wife, a former actress, is trying to return to the theater scene, left after the birth of a child. One evening, as she has already done more than once, she leaves her son in the care of her father, who does not pay enough attention to the child.
