A Perfect State (en)
A Perfect State was a 1997 British situation comedy starring Gwen Taylor, Richard Hope, Trevor Cooper, Emma Amos and Danny Webb. It debuted on BBC1 on Thursday 27 February 1997 and ran for seven episodes. Taylor took the leading role of Laura Fitzgerald, the Deputy Mayor of Flatby, a town on the East Coast of England. As the series begins, she is informed that because Flatby was never surveyed for the Domesday Book, it has never officially been annexed into the United Kingdom. As a result, and much to the chagrin of the Government in London, Laura rallies the townsfolk to declare Flatby an independent state. Most of the filming was carried out in Wivenhoe in Essex.

The Ching family is an affluent family that produces textiles for the royal family, the govt officials and the army during the Tang Dynasty. Circumstances force the Ching's 4th son, Ching Chi Hin to marry Dun Ju, the daughter of a Tibetan general. However, their relationship is marred by misunderstandings and hatred for each other. The two remain in a loveless marriage, with Dun Ju wanting to return to Tibet and Chi Hin nicknaming her "stupid pig" because her name Dun Ju pronunciation sounds the same as "stupid pig" in Chinese. One day she runs into Luk Dung Jaun, a Tibetan govt official on the streets of the Tang capital. He tells her he is on a secret mission and asks for her help, promising that he will take her back to Tibet once they have finished their mission. Their mission is to find the long-lost illegitimate son of the Tibetan Emperor. The clues to finding this person is a gold butterfly pendant, a piece of jade and a birthmark on the person's chest.

The mystery thriller revolves around a murder case set in Hansung, the capital of Korea during the latter years of the Joseon dynasty when the nation was experiencing a rapid influx of western influences. Featuring a band of newcomers in the leading roles, Conspiracy in the Court entails a story of four young visionary idealists and King Jeongjo, Joseon's popular 22nd monarch who fought for commoners' rights and bureaucratic reformation. Despite low ratings averaging 6.00%, it was lauded for its high standard of content and art direction.
