Hem till byn, written by Bengt Bratt, is Sweden's longest running TV series and one of its most popular. It is a realistic drama about people in a rural Swedish village and their daily life and romances and fights but also the consequenses of agricultural policy and other changes in the society. The series was first aired in 1971 and has since then been shown in eight seasons with three to five years between them, except a 14-year long intermission between 1976 and 1990. The 2006 season was likely the last. All the characters were played by the same actors throughout the series' run, and thus aged naturally with the actors. As the actors grew older and eventually died during the years, the characters that they played had also died at the start of the following season. The seven seasons between 1971 and 2002 were directed by Jackie Söderman and the eighth season of 2006 by Gun Jönsson, who herself portrayed one of the main characters in the series.

Did You See...? (en)

Did You See...? was a long-running British television documentary series which began on the BBC in 1980. The programme took a look back at the week's television with a discussion between the presenter and three guests. In the first run there was also an item on related issues. The presenters of Did You See...? were the journalist and broadcaster Sir Ludovic Kennedy, who fronted the programme from 1980 to 1988, and from 1991 to 1993 Jeremy Paxman. Sarah Dunant hosted the show while Kennedy was absent due to ill health. The format was to review the week's TV highlights, followed by an in depth review and critique of three selected shows with a panel of three notable public figures. The last segment of the show was a commissioned review of an aspect of TV by an independent reporter. Notable editions of Did You See...? include a 1986 edition which featured a look at the history of Blue Peter in which former presenter Peter Purves recalled that on the death of Blue Peter pet parrot Joey, the show's editor Biddy Baxter called him in floods of tears. He speculated that had he himself died, Baxter would have been far less upset and wouldn't have been likely to be calling his co-presenters telling them he'd died! This particular feature was one of several that was later expanded and extracted from the series, shown in a stand alone documentary format. Sea of Faith, a 1984 documentary series examining the history of Christianity in the modern world, was featured on another edition. In 1982, the programme featured a visual history of Doctor Who's recurring enemy The Cybermen, to mark their first appearance in the series in seven years. Wide Wide World was a 90-minute documentary series telecast live on NBC on Sunday afternoons at 4pm Eastern. Conceived by network head Pat Weaver and hosted by Dave Garroway, Wide Wide World was introduced on the Producers' Showcase series on June 27, 1955. The premiere episode, featuring entertainment from the US, Canada and Mexico, was the first international North American telecast in the history of the medium. It returned in the fall as a regular Sunday series, telecast from October 16, 1955 to June 8, 1958. The program was sponsored by General Motors and Barry Wood was the executive producer. In March 1956, Time magazine reported that it was the highest-rated daytime show on television.

Its episodes were broadcast on the CBS network from September 16, 1994 to March 10, 1995. Though short-lived, the show premiered to fairly strong reviews, which praised lead Karen Sillas's performance and observed that the show functioned as a kind of Americanized Prime Suspect. Filming occurred in Portland, with views of the South Park Blocks and Willamette River.
