Two weeks after her birth, Helen and Nicola went to the Ecuadorian Civil Registry office to register her daughter under both mothers' last names. Their request was denied. This is the story of a family established in a country with a Constitution that recognizes their rights but with a State that does not guarantee those rights and a society where many still deny them completely.
