It seems that the thieving rival is blackmailing Schuster´s girlfriend. With the help of his friends and an ingenious talking cap that he designed himself, the good director manages to outwit the baddie, get the girl and make the country laugh.

Moe tells Curly to wish for quintuplets, and Curly replies, "We'll honeymoon in Canada!" (a reference to the Dionne quintuplets).
