While Vikings have been celebrated as heroic explorers and conquerors, they have a dark history as slavers and human traffickers, the extent of which is being uncovered through archaeology.
Adventurers, explorers and conquerors: the Vikings are considered the greatest heroes of the Middle Ages. Is this interpretation justified?
