Award-winning artist Kae Tempest hosts a night of poetry that includes her epic new story Let Them Eat Chaos and performances from three of her friends, recorded live at the Rivoli Ballroom in south London. Fusing hip-hop, poetry and theatre, Let Them Eat Chaos is set in the early hours of one morning and traces the lives of seven people living on a south London street, who all find themselves awake at 4:18am. Kae will be joined by performance poets Deanna Rodger, David J Pugilist and Isaiah Hull, who will offer their own reflections on life in contemporary Britain.

Five students go to the jungle at the foot of Mount Batu, an area known to be haunted, dangerous and feared by the locals, to do a history assignment. There, they encounter a possessed Shaman and locate the cave of the Siluman Air (Water Spirit) king and his disciples, who need human sacrifices.

Alligator Queen(id)

A mystic is murdered by three of his disciples because they want to learn the skills he picked up from his mentor; a wizard named Resi Tunggal Manik. They reach Resi Tunggal Manik's hideaway, rape his wife and then throw his daughter Dewi in a river. An alligator catches the girl and she's brought to the kingdom at the bottom of the sea ruled by the Alligator Queen. Once a grown Dewi (who has revenge on her mind) and the Alligator Queen see handsome young Linggar (who's actually Dewi's brother!) a power struggle erupts.

Snake Princess(id)

Lovebirds (love snakes?) Bunga the Snake Princess and Sanca the python live in a forest and transform into humans and hold erotic dance ceremonies every full moon. Some explorers stumble upon them and Sanca is accidentally shot. This incident makes Bunga sad, angry and vengeful and she begins killing everyone off.

Within a mountain village, the Suijin family has controlled the village for a long time. The three sisters from the Sujin family begin to quarrel over the family inheritance. Rameau: Les Indes galantes(fr)

For the launch of its DVD collection, Alpha is joining forces with Christophe Roussets Les Talens Lyriques in Rameaus opera-ballet Les Indes galantes, his most famous work, here performed in its 1750 Toulouse version. Particularly rich both on the musical level and in atmosphere, scrutinizing love in far-off lands (Turkey, Peru, Persia and America), it responds to the infatuation with exoticism that tinged all the arts of the century. Rameaus dance music is always quite suggestive, evocative of a movement or a pictorial atmosphere. As for the staging, Laura Scozzi brings her contemporary vision to these countries and travels. Filmed at the Bordeaux National Opera, this production marked the Rameau celebrations in 2014 and was unanimously hailed by the international press

With this DVD and Blu-ray of Rodelinda, one of Handel’s most emotionally complex operas, conductor Emmanuelle Haïm adds to her impressive Erato catalogue of the composer’s works. The imaginative production, by Jean Bellorini, was seen at the Opéra de Lille in Autumn 2018, and the cast features soprano Jeanine De Bique in the title role, countertenor Tim Mead as her husband Bertarido and another countertenor, Erato’s rising star Jakub Józef Orliński as Unulfo. Reviewing the production, Le Monde noted Emmanuelle Haïm’s “intimate connection with this music, which she knows how to unleash in all its violence, passion and heart-wrenching expressivity.”

The story revolves around a 13 year old Guddu who works as a helper at a tea stall. His father, an ex musician is a penniless alcoholic, and his mother a singer has abandoned the family. Therefore, he has to take the responsibility of his family at a tender age. Music is his passion, he loves to observe, listen and create new tunes. On his daily chai delivery visits, he watches a wedding band practice keenly, completely losing the sense of time. He has a desire to join the band one day. Along with Guddu, the film also tells the tale of other street children who work near Guddu’s tea stall. One day while wandering in the city, they come across a carnival where they see an orchestra performing for money which inspires them to form their own band. Atkan Chatkan shows the dreams of millions of young children who do not have the means but only a burning passion that needs careful nurturing to grow and succeed in life.

Quartet for the End of Time(en)

A music documentary about Olivier Messiaen's transcendent masterpiece, that he composed in a World War II prison camp, and debuted there on January 15, 1941. This film was completed on the 75th Anniversary of that historic premiere, and features "The President's Own" United States Marine Band Ensemble performing in rehearsal and at The Phillips Collection, in Washington, D.C.
