To support his family, he becomes the driver of Periya Thambi and Chinna Thambi. Periya Thambi's daughter Lakshmi (Devayani) and Chinna Thambi's daughter Priya (Mantra) fall in love with Gopalakrishnan. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.
