Konrad knows her from earlier when she was still driving a taxi and she regularly took him and his sick wife to the hospital. Now Konrad's wife is dead and Katharina was abandoned by her husband. When Katharina and Konrad meet again by chance, both feel very attracted to each other and their love happiness is nothing in the way except Konrad's looming blindness.
