6.0In 1989, I met Anton LaVey for the first time. At this time in his life, LaVey was seeing only a select few people. For this film, I've met and interviewed some of them, to try and create a composite image of what he was really like, and what he meant to these people. It's a memory lane trip, filled with personal stories, dark humor, great music and never before seen material with the Black Pope himself.
The film uses songs, drawings, amateur films, photos and fragments of texts by Stanisław Staszewski.
0.0Jan Wolkers experienced his greatest prosperity in his Amsterdam period (1963-1977), but also conquered several crises. On the basis of his books and media appearances, he has strongly contributed to the myth formation around his person. Thanks to a great find of eighty audio reels (full of intimate conversations with crown witnesses from Wolkers' life and work) and film reels in his archive on Texel, it is possible for director Wim van der Aar to make a new, authentic and exclusive film about the folk writer . The documentary will come very close to the real Wolkers and is a nice addition to the long-awaited biography of Onno Blom that will be released in October, exactly ten years after the writer's death.
This MGM Passing Parade series short takes a look at changing definitions of art in the United States.

0.0Food in the 21st century has become much more than “meat and potatoes” and canned soup casseroles.” Chefs have gained celebrity status; recipes and exotic ingredients, once impossible to find, are now just a mouse click away; and the country's major cities are better known for their gastronomy than their art galleries. This food movement can be traced back to one man: James Beard. His name graces the highest culinary honor in the American food world today—the James Beard Foundation Awards. And while chefs all around the country aspire to win a James Beard Award, often referred to as the “culinary Oscars,” many of those same chefs know very little about the man behind the medal. Respected restaurateur Drew Nieporent summed it up when he said, “Everybody knows the name James Beard. They may not know who he is, but they know the name.”
5.0The 1995 World Series featured the two best teams in baseball. The Cleveland Indians won 100 games in a shortened season, and they made it to the World Series for the first time in 41 years. The Atlanta Braves had been here before, twice in the previous four years. With the best pitching staff in baseball, they were called the team of the '90's. Still they needed a World Series Title to claim that crown. This official documentary of the 1995 World Series includes all the dramatic moments of the six-game battle between the Indians and the Braves including: Eddie Murray's game-winning single at frenzied Jacobs Field. Orel Hershiser's gutsy performances against the incredible Greg Maddux. Dave Justice talking the talk...and then walking the walk. 10.0In northern Albania, ancestral customs still exist, governing the laws of vendetta between families. Sometimes, for generations, an old feud has pitted two clans against each other, condemning them to take turns murdering a member of the opposing family.
