Twitching back and forth through time, we spy on the rise and fall and rise and maybe fall again of Joe and Nicole and Teo and Marissa, two interlocking couples on the outskirts of Millennial Brooklyn. Behind the restless flow of scenes (complete with titles marking off the remaining minutes) is a growing undertow of grief, painting a decidedly un-rosy portrait of youth.

“I don’t drive, but I know people who’ll drive 100 metres to go to the shops. Our society is obsessed with the car, with coming and going, getting somewhere. I used very intricate matting, some shaped like knives. I wanted the cars to slice each other in two, creating a kind of hurdy gurdy atmosphere…an abstract rushing to and fro, going nowhere. The first half of the film is silent. The second half, a grainy dupe of the same images, has sound and is far more urgent and aggressive.” (Paul Winkler)

So begin the serious experiences of a girl who understands that this doll bought off her. At night, the girl dreams a terrible dream in which the doll embodies all her fears... "Pink Doll" creates the illusion of a spellbound fall into the abyss of children's dreams, fantasies and nightmares. The sensual effect is achieved by the game of scale and angle, the nervous rhythm of intraframe movement and graphic thickening of reality.
