Angelika, a ten years old daughter of a spa visitor Bachmann is terribly bored in Karlovy Vary spa. Her father enjoys different spa procedures, trying to lose some weight, but the little girl feels to be only waiting for something to enjoy. Moreover, she cannot speak any Czech unlike her father. Kája, a son of the hotel receptionist Vlasta, attempts to amuse her despite he cannot speak German. Both children make friends although there is the language barrier.

Angus is a large, pathetic 14-year-old whose thoughts are most often filled with the image of only one girl, Melissa Lefevre. Angus is shy and thinks that he has no chance of ever 'getting' her. Being especially uncool, he is incredibly surprised (along with the rest of the school) that he is chosen to dance with her at the Winter Ball. In the forest two gold digger saw a fire nymph, foreshadowing is rich in gold deposits, and had a fight. This greatly angered the nymph. This story told grandfather to his grandson. Suddenly the very same girl appeared in front of them from the flames of the candles, and tease the boy ran out of the hut. After a while the boy again met with Ognevushka, and she invited him to her house. In winter, the old man found out that they had in the house over the potatoes. Trying to earn a livelihood, changing home-made wooden spoons on potatoes, he fails. Then Fedya went to the forest to visit Ognevushka, hoping to take the potatoes. In response to the request Ognevushka lent the boy magic shovel. Which in the same year Fedya with his grandfather comfortably survived until the summer.
