Gönülçelen is inspired by Bernard Shaw's play 'Pygmalion' and its film adaptation 'My Fair Lady'. The series transports the scene to Istanbul where both Murat and Hasret, the two main characters, live. Murat is thirty years old and a successful musician and music educator who was born and raised in Istanbul. He comes from a long line of respected, rich and noble people. The female protagonist Hasret - on the other hand - was born and raised in one of Istanbul's most impoverished neighborhoods. She is a free spirited young woman with a 'foul' mouth. Hasret makes her living by selling flowers and occasionally singing in a band. Republic of Telly is a TV review and magazine programme on Irish public broadcaster, RTÉ Two. Presented by comedian Kevin McGahern, the programme is intended as a satirical examination at television, mocking various Irish and British TV channels, including sketches and special guests making an appearance from the shows. An added feature of the show is its correspondents Jennifer Maguire and Bernard O'Shea. Maguire conducts vox pops and celebrity interviews, whereas O'Shea conducts "live on the spot reports". This current incarnation has seen different presiding judges: former Los Angeles prosecuting attorney Mablean Ephriam (1999–2006), former municipal court judge Lynn Toler (2006–2020), former NYC prosecutor Faith Jenkins (2020–2022), and former Brooklyn A.D.A. Star Jones (2022- ). Since the debut of the original series in 1957, it is one of the longest-running syndicated television programs of all time. Divorce Court also holds the record for the longest-running court show of all time, leading the second-place show The People's Court by two years.
