It is the first installment of a trilogy produced by Zhang Jizhong, followed by The Return of the Condor Heroes and The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber. It was first broadcast on CCTV in China in 2003.

My Chief and My Regiment (zh)

The series is about the Chinese National Revolutionary Army Expeditionary Force in Burma fighting the Imperial Japanese Army during the 1942 Battle of Yunnan-Burma Road at the Second Sino-Japanese War. The Chinese troops landed in Burma to support the British allied forces operations. The aim was to protect the road since it served as an important supply route after China's ports fell under Japanese control. When the British forces withdrew their support and surrendered, part of the remaining Chinese troops was forced to abandon their heavy equipment and retreat in loose formations through the harsh Burmese jungles, experiencing constant enemy pursue and ambush. Of the 100,000 strong Chinese Expeditionary Force sent to fight, only around 40,000 returned home. The story follows a small group of soldiers being refuged in Yunnan, and is narrated through the eyes of a limping young Beiping student-turned-soldier named Meng Fanliao.

My Girlfriend Is Shobitch (ja)

Haruka Shinozaki has been interested in the class representative, Akiho Kousaka, since his first year in high school. She is attractive, good at sports, and is an all-around model student. Since they are in the same class this year, Shinozaki decides to confess his feelings—and, to his shock, Kousaka agrees to be his girlfriend! However, he finds that Kousaka is a bit stranger than he first thought: this seemingly perfect girl has never been in a relationship. Seiren follows Shouichi's relationships with these three girls across three separate arcs, as their feelings grow from mutual interest and blossom into something more beautiful.

The life of an artist can be hard: Long, arduous hours working with only your thoughts and assistants to keep you company. In the case of overworked mangaka Aito, his attempts to merge the two are so far unsuccessful. His priorities are askew and subjecting his assistants to his fantasies has taken precedent over work. Despite his abuse of power, his assistants are willing to play along. Thankfully, editor Mihari is there to keep him in line, from threatening to fire him to physical punishment.

Meanwhile, an apparel company of which Ho-fan is a major shareholder is found to have involved in illicit dealings. Yip Cheung-lok and his son Yip Ming-kwan, who are member of senior management, are associated with these activities. Lik-kei teams up with Ho-fan and Ho-fan’s younger sister Lee Chung-ying, who is a barrister by profession, to investigate. Lik-kei and Chung-ying get entangled in a relationship in the process. Also, Lik-kei’s elder sister Ko Wing-yumand Ho-fan get along sometimes and provoke each other at other times. Fate has brought the foursome together, causing a case that has remained unsolved for more than twenty years to be reopened.
