This is the story about Xenia, who spent half a lifetime as a man before deciding to spend the rest of it as a woman. At the end of a dirt track, deep in the Danish countryside, resides Xenia with his German Sheppard in a disused farm. Xenia is 70 years old, a former hauler and dresses as a woman. He has finally found a balance between a quiet existence in the country and a satisfying work life. Over the last 20 years his occupation has been as a lady of pleasure, receiving customers both in his home and around different sites in Copenhagen. The film gives a loving account of his unique road towards happiness. Xenia's life has not been easy, but a bumpy ride with ups and downs, celebrations and crises. When both his business and marriage started to break, that was the beginning of his new life and the transformation from hauler to Xenia. The film challenges our preconceptions of the 'normal' and prejudices about sexuality, gender, happiness and age.

Film in Which There Appear... is a six-minute loop of the double-printed image of a "China girl" or "Shirley card", her image off-center, making visible the sprocket holes and edge lettering on the film. According to Land, within the loop, "no development in the dramatic or musical sense" occurs. Fred Camper described Film in Which There Appear... as "a kind of Duchampian found object, a [...] film that focuses attention on the medium and the viewer." There also exists a 20-minute "widescreen version" involving two prints of the film projected side-by-side, with the left print flipped horizontally so that the "China girl" forms an almost complete face in the center.

In Handel's day this best-loved of all oratorios was performed by fewer than forty instrumentalists and a chorus, less than thirty strong, of boy trebles and men. That is the tradition to which Christopher Hogwood has returned in his performances with the Academy of Ancient Music. Members of the Academy all play instruments of the period or accurate modern copies. In this recording the choruses are sung by boy trebles and male altos, tenors and basses, members of the Choir of Westminster Abbey. The soloists improvise embellishments in the arias and, in certain cases, join in the singing of the choruses, just as they would have done 240 years ago. The recording takes full advantage not only of Westminster Abbey's fine acoustic qualities, but also of the incomparable architectural splendor of the surroundings.
