Before the breakout of the Sino-Japanese War, Hong, Wang, and Peng were best friends. Hong and Wang secretly joined the local guerrillas after the Japanese began invading China. Hong ran a small business and Wang worked as a courier for a Japanese trading firm, hiding their true identities in order to collect intelligence on the Japanese for the Eight Route Army, and established a railway guerrilla unit. Wang soon found out that the trading firm he was working for was indeed an intelligence unit of the Japanese. They infiltrated the Japanese special forces and eliminated many Japanese. Suspicions arise from the Japanese as to the real identity of the individuals suspected of being part of the railway guerrilla forces, so called Flying Tigers unit, so the Japanese began to form a counter-spying operation and other under-handed means by recruiting Chinese traitors to uncover and eliminate them all.

All the while, he is unaware that she is Peggy Joyce, Brock's gold-digging fiancée. He is also unaware that Peggy has ulterior motives for coming on to him, which, in combination with her dangerous past, could lead to complications for all involved.

As the name would indicate, the film tells about two local men who are making moonshine in the woods. A customer comes to them, and while sampling the product they start a game of cards, which eventually leads to a fight. Gradually, Ed learns to submit to his wife's modern attitudes until he discovers that her continual visits to the city have not been to the dentist's, as she had said, but to the studio of portrait painter Perry Pipp. Ed angrily confronts Peggy with her deception, forcing her to return home to her parent's house. Later, when Ed learns that Peggy has been posing for a portrait as a birthday surprise, he begs his wife's forgiveness, which she bestows, along with the information that a baby is on it's way.
