Andrzej Wajda's English-language film of a novella by Józef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski, aka Joseph Conrad, about a young man in his first command as a sea captain. A series of crises prove incredibly difficult for his new authority, for the sea is curiously becalmed and the crew is weakened by feverish malaria. When the first mate's fear convinces many that the ship is haunted and cursed by the malevolent spirit of the previous captain, the young man must cope with their superstition as well as the conspicuous absence of much-needed medicine.

Emin's video CV is an accompaniment to her work on paper, Tracey Emin CV 1995 (Tate T07632), which is a potted history of the artist's professional and emotional life from conception until 1995. This CV, read aloud by Emin, constitutes the sound-track to the video and provides contrasting background to the visual information on display. As Emin narrates her story of trauma and abuse, mixed with pleasure and success, the video takes the viewer on a journey through the artist's home. The artist is not visibly present in person until the last frames when she appears curled up naked on the floor of her sitting-room at the feet of her mother (who wears black sunglasses and looks away from both her daughter and the camera). Like Emin's handwritten CV, the video constitutes her self-portrait, in this instance adding the component of a journey around the space of her apartment to her narrating voice. -Tate

Balachandran's family has been longing for a male child to inherit the family's wealth, but his elder brothers were having only female children. Ambika gets pregnant. Balachandran realizes that his wife is carrying a daughter, and not a son. Later, he meets his old classmate and best friend, Padmarajan, whose wife Hema was also pregnant. She was bearing a male child. However, their babies were swapped by mistake by Balu's mother soon after delivery. Both Padmarajan and Balu must keep this as a secret to see their children. When Balu's cousins discover this, the babies get kidnapped by the antagonists.
