Cutting and sewing as metaphors. Central to this work is the complex emotions surrounding love, separation, and the metonymic twinning of objects, including that of edited images and saturated sound. “AMOR is an exquisite lyric, shot in Rome and at the natural theatre of Salzburg. The recurring sounds of cutting cloth, hands clapping, hammering, and tapping underline the associations of the montage of short camera movements, which bring together the making of a suit, the restoration of a building, and details of a figure, presumably Beavers himself, standing in the natural theatre in a new suit, making a series of hand movements and gestures. A handsomely designed Italian banknote suggests the aesthetic economy of the film: the tailoring, trimming, and chiselling point to the editing of the film itself.” (P. Adams Sitney, Film Comment).

The B-52’s and VH1 went live with a "Backyard Barbecue" from the Kreischer Mansion in Charleston. The broadcast had to be delayed for an hour while a crew of 85 people from the video music channel fixed the many things that a prior storm had knocked over or ruined. Among the things damaged included a bank of telephones which tipped over; a canvas covering the stage which had ripped away, and a soundboard which had to be replaced. The concert happened as a result of a national, annual concert put on by the music channel and won by Bulls Head residents Stephen and Linda Geraci. And, once the concert was underway, the crowd got in the cosmic, good-time spirit the band is known for and danced with enthusiasm. The band told the Advance they'd played Staten Island early in their career, nearly 20 years and 20 million album sales ago, and were glad to be back.
