St. Matthew Passion(it)

Released a few months after the Italian The Passion According to St. Mathew, this Austrian film is, like the earlier effort, based on a theatre piece. But whereas the Italian picture was inspired by Bach's oratorio, St. Mathew's Passion is a filmed record of a newly commissioned State Burgtheatre production. Actor Raoul Aslan movingly recites the biblical story of the last days of Christ, while the Philharmonic Orchestra of Vienna underscores his words. Director Ernst Marischka breaks up the visual monotony of the proceeding by utilizing a montage of photographs and paintings of the Middle Eastern regions where the original story took place. Reviewers felt that St. Mathew's Passion should have been promoted as a documentary rather than a dramatic feature.

This Ivete Sangalo concert at Rio de Janeiro's legendary Maracanã Stadium, and the subsequent DVD/CD releases, constituted the year's main event in Brazilian pop music. Sangalo rose to fame with the axé band Banda Eva, and since 1999 has embarked on an unstoppable solo career, making her the undisputed queen of pop in Brazil in terms of sales and popularity, as well as gathering countless industry and society awards. Accordingly, Sangalo put on a show at the Maracanã that should leave no one envious of the megaconcerts offered in Rio by Madonna, Michael Jackson, and the Rolling Stones. Alternating some of her many hits with new songs or new versions of old material, Sangalo burns through the set with her characteristic enthusiasm and infectious star magnetism, incessantly cheered on by an adoring audience of 55,000. Why So Serious? II(pl)

Hello everyone, and welcome to the second edition of "Why so Serious?" MEP – the Polish version of AMV Hell, featuring only Polish creators. The project began in late August 2009, allowing both editors and scriptwriters to participate. In total, 35 Polish creators and 6 scriptwriters joined. After three months, I received 250 tracks, amounting to 1.5 hours of material. Like in the first edition, a special jury was selected to evaluate the clips. The jury consisted of AceMan, Szwagier, Crossfade, and Kosmit, chosen to ensure fair judgment. After their review, the number of tracks was reduced to 100, resulting in about 25 minutes of final material. The grand premiere of "Why so Serious II" took place on February 6, 2010, during the PAcon convention in Warsaw, attracting a large audience and receiving a standing ovation. Special thanks to Heero, Kosmit, AceMan, Szwagier, Crossfade, and Kaeth, and to all co-authors, without whom this project wouldn’t have been possible.
