With Sounds of Dortmund, Dortmund Opera picks up where MusiCircus left off in the 2018/19 season. Once again, musical groups and all Dortmund residents were invited to become part of the performative sound collage. For one day, Dortmund was to be filled with music, noises, sounds, and performances. A poetic sound art work that focuses on the diversity of the city with its individual sounds.

The Unanswered Question I : Musical Phonology(en)

This series comprised six lectures on music, which cumulatively took the title of a work by Charles Ives, The Unanswered Question. Bernstein drew analogies to other disciplines, such as poetry, aesthetics, and especially linguistics, hoping to make these lectures accessible to an audience with limited or no musical experience, while maintaining an intelligent level of discourse: Phonology is the linguistic study of sounds, or phonemes. Bernstein's application of this term to music results in what he calls "musical phonology".

Nodame Cantabile: The Movie II(ja)

The Vrijthof concerts have been going for ten years and this anniversary was all the excuse André Rieu needed to make things extra festive and put on a fantastic, unforgettable anniversary concert with his new DVD, ‘Love In Venice’ – a selection of favourites from the concert. For this tenth concert series he had the Vrijthof square specially decorated in Venetian style, complete with a Doge’s Palace, Rialto Bridge, a fabulous Italian fountain and a colourful Venetian masquerade and it was a party from start to end.
