Captain of His Soul(1918)
At the suggestion of his sons Horace and Henry, aging Ebenezer Boyce turns over control of his pistol factory to Martin. However, when Ebenezer discovers the extent of Martin's dishonesty and corruption, the shock gives the old man a heart attack and he dies. Soon afterward Martin is discovered dead, and the brothers begin to suspect each other of the murder.

When Thanya's revolutionary brother Boris tells her that he plans to kill Bagroff, she agrees to help. The plan fails and Boris and Thanya are captured, but they soon escape to Paris where Thanya rejoins the struggling Vance. Bagroff finds Thanya and tells her that he will make Vance famous if she consents to be his mistress. Thanya agrees and Vance becomes an overnight success. Then, as Bagroff and Thanya prepare to spend their first night together, Boris appears and kills the duke, thereby allowing Thanya and Vance to spend a peaceful, successful life together.

Both partners find themselves attracted to her, but each has a different approach: Phillipls takes the rough, aggressive route and Rand does the opposite, complimenting and flattering her at every opportunity. However, she falls in love with Tom Galloway, a young inventor who has come up with a new type of soft drink, "Here's How". in which Ellen attempts to interest the brokers. Phillips, however, doesn't take rejection lightly and schemes to break up Ellen and Galloway using his unwitting partner. This film is lost.

Gerrit Ammidon, despairing of any chance to marry his love, Nettie Vollar, because of a bitter feud between his father and her grandfather, sails to China to "get away from it all". While in Shanghai he rescues a beautiful young woman being attacked by a gang of street toughs. She turns out to be Taou Yuen, a Manchu princess. Gerrit discovers that, unless she finds a husband, she will be put to death, and he agrees to marry her. They return to Java Head, the Ammidon family home in Salem, Massachusetts, but Gerrit's "homecoming" has some unexpected consequences.
