The film sheds light on the violence and prejudice in a variety of faith communities and the challenges of seeking help from institutions like law enforcement. Inspired by a True Story, this short film is a prelude to a feature-length Thriller of the same name. "THE PULPIT" will return.

Overall, the movie handles this difficult subject with an elegant style and feeling, without having the adult-child relationship overwhelm the viewer and thus allowing the movie to be seen as just a wartime relationship between two people that marks an important time in a young boy’s life.
