Lloyd Kent returns to his hometown after twenty years a wealthy man. All the while he was gone, he held the memory of his sweetheart, Emily Lester though she jilted him in a moment of anger and married his rival, John Rand. Emily is now a widow in diminished circumstances with an 18-year-old daughter, Betty, who is the image of her now careworn mother in her youth. Because of that memory Lloyd is drawn to Betty who is flattered despite her love for her neighbor Hal Edwards. Betty, realizing the situation, finds one of her mother’s old gowns and helps transform her appearance closer to her girlish self. Lloyd is swept away with renewed love and both couples happily paired with the proper partner.

The Gypsy Trail(en)

Gypsy Willie Buckland recalls to his friend why he and his wife return each year to that same spot to hear the chimes in the village church. In his youth he and little gypsy maid Jane were friends and sweethearts. When Willie’s father died, he went to the city where he met "The Painted Woman," spending his last cent on her, but they had genuinely fallen in love and he promises to stay with the woman, who is fatally ill, until she dies. Penniless and ill, he wanders out into the street and thence to the meadows, where he is found by Jane and nursed back to health. Fearing his love may not be true, she tells him that if he finds her wherever she may wander, one year from that date, that she will believe him and marry him. A long weary year passes when he arrives in that very village just as the chimes are ringing, and there he finds Jane. His story finished, Buckland points to Jane and their children with a happy smile.

Skin Deep is a 1929 American talking drama film directed by Ray Enright and starring Monte Blue. It was produced and distributed by the Warner Brothers. It was also released in the U.S. in a silent version for theaters not equipped yet with sound. The film is a remake of a 1922 Associated First National silent film of the same name directed by Lambert Hillyer and starring Milton Sills. All copies of this film are now lost. However, the Vitaphone soundtrack, of music and effects, survive.

He conducts several experiments and is on the verge of success in his invention when an explosion of the chemicals occurs and it subsequently develops that he is blinded for life, his eyesight being permanently destroyed.

Molla learns of Pearl's pregnancy and holds Ira at gunpoint in the lighthouse. When Pearl discovers that Charley is already married, she locks him in the lighthouse tower, floods it with gas, and hurls a lighted lantern at him. Pearl and Charley are killed, but Ira recovers. The explosion signals Rod's ship, and he and Molla are reunited. A lost film.

Smiley devises a plan to have Marcia adjudged insane and take her fortune. He almost succeeds but at the last-minute he fails.

Peyton Carothers and Margaret Grayton want to marry but are impoverished. Margaret makes a calculated bargain with the wealthy Robert Van Allen to marry him for a million dollars. He agrees feeling he can win her love. What he doesn't know is she continues to see Carothers. When Van Allen discovers the duplicity he shackles the pair together and forces them to live together in a remote location. It does not go well with the lovers ending up hating each other and Carothers turning violent. Ultimately Margaret sees the error of her ways and stays with Van Allen.

Orphaned and disabled Hope Hathaway has been left in the guardianship of the rapacious Rufus Flint and his son Abner. They scheme to force Hope to marry Abner to access her fortune but are held at bay by her faithful housekeeper Susie. Nearby a movie is being filmed and the picture's star Neil Stuart happens upon Hope one day when she is alone in a field. Concerned for her situation Neil tells Susie to contact him if he is ever needed. When Rufus and Abner make their play Neil swoops in and rescues Hope.

Broken-down tramp Weatherby finds inspiration to change his life after seeing the play "Youth". The plot follows Weatherby as he is given money by a kind passerby, which he uses to buy a theater ticket and see the drama that becomes the catalyst for his transformation.

Their engagement is interrupted by another admirer, the "Libertine," and John David's life is disrupted by scandal and societal pressure, ultimately leading him to seek a more meaningful existence and a deeper love beyond superficial pleasures.

Imprisoned at the French garrison on the Isle of St. Noir for putting to death a patient suffering from an incurable illness, Dr. Paul La Roche escapes to the mainland, where he meets Dr. Henry Fontaine, his boyhood friend, and Fontaine's beautiful sister, Yvonne. As Fontaine is going blind, La Roche performs several operations for him, attracting the attention of Dr. Renaud, in Algiers, who offers him a position. La Roche, practicing as Fontaine, reveals his love for Yvonne during an excursion to a Bedouin camp. Then, Lieutenant Destin, from the prison, arrives and threatens La Roche with exposure unless he surrenders the hand of Yvonne.
