One day Karen, Kristel and Kathleen receive an invitation from a king and queen from a distant fairytale kingdom. They ask if they want to sing on their daughter's birthday. But the princess behaves like a spoiled brat, because an evil wizard placed a curse on her, freezing her heart in the process. In an exciting race against time, K3 try to solve the mystery surrounding the little princess. But this turns out not to be as easy as they thought. Because even though they encounter all kinds of well-known fairytale characters, they do not receive any help. Will the brave singers manage to lift the curse?

One night the girls of K3 find a mysterious storybook in their bedroom. When they read it, the face of a handsome prince appears. The prince is cursed by the evil Cat Queen and must kiss his true love before midnight. If not, he turns into... a cat. Fortunately, the prince has help from the fairy Fiorella, who helps him in his difficult quest. Fiorella picks up the K3 girls in her carriage and takes them to Fairytale Land, high above the clouds. Could one of the K3 girls be the true love of the handsome prince? Can they break the Cat Queen's curse before the clock strikes twelve?

"Anyone who tries to enrich themselves with the stone will die before the next full moon unless the stone is returned to the alchemist." Suske and Wiske must return the diamond to the alchemist at all costs. They enlist the help of Professor Barabas and use the time machine to flash back to the 15th century. Things get out of control when a policeman shoots several pupils in a classroom. Nevertheless, the musical ends with a cheerful farewell show of pupils leaving school, which takes most of act two. In the movie version Sarafina feels shame at her mother's (played by Miriam Makeba in the film) acceptance of her role as domestic servant in a white household in apartheid South Africa, and inspires her peers to rise up in protest, especially after her inspirational teacher, Mary Masombuka (played by Whoopi Goldberg in the film version) is imprisoned.
