When a rival nation sends troops to invade the Song Dynasty, the emperor sends general Yang Ye (Adam Cheng) to defend the nation. However, Yang's place in the court is shaky due to a feud with Pan Renmei caused by the accidental death of his son at the hands of one of Yang's sons. At the battle, Yang is abandoned by Pan's troops, leaving him trapped in the face of an attack by Yeli Yuan (Shao Bing), an enemy general who wants to kill Yang to avenge his father. They receive the support of intellectuals and cadres such as Dai Bing and Guo Xiaocheng. However, they encounter opposition from Guo Cheng, the Secretary of the Jiajin Prefectural Party Committee, and Da Wang, the deputy director of the Jiajin Electric Power Bureau, and others. Fu Lianshan suffers setbacks and is pushed out of the Electric Power Bureau. Guo Cheng then orders the transmission of electricity with an overload, resulting in a serious accident. Although the reform fails, history is bound to move forward.

Butterfly puts Lee into a drug-induced coma to obtain the antidote to treat Fong-ping. Ying seizes the chance to capture the women. Fong-ping sustains another injury to rescue the hostages. Nun arrives in time and seizes the Lee family heirloom. Lee avenges her parents' death.
