The story is set in a heavenly village on the Mexican west coast. To the west is the Pacific Ocean, immense, ominous, tumultuous, and on the opposite side is the jungle, lush, thick and populated by all sorts of animals. Violeta Martinez was born there.

Juno encounters different characters in his dreams as he seeks to make sense of his past with Clarissa. Confusing and distorted memories haunt him and prevent him from moving forward in the writing of his novel.
