The renaming commemorates the Kiel sailors' uprising of 1918 and makes direct reference to the "People's Navy Division" formed during the November Revolution - the guests of honor include participants in the sailors' uprising of 1918. Rear Admiral Neukirchen leads the parade formation. The solemn ceremony takes place on the flagship.
