An expansive Russian drama, this film focuses on the life of revered religious icon painter Andrei Rublev. As he begins to ease his troubled soul, he takes steps towards becoming a painter once again.

Surprisingly, King Philip II appears in the village and confirms the harsh sentence, but wants to pardon the offender. However, the sentence has already been carried out.
