Strange Birds(cs)

The allegorical story of two humanized birds - father and son, who usually walk the earth and fly only in case of danger. The two birds are out for a leisurely stroll, playing music together and taking selfies until a hungry cat attempts to spoil their fun. After several unique and imaginative evasive maneuvers, the birds pelt the cat with apple bombs. The film is one of the jewels of the cartoon: the Czech tradition, Disney anthropomorphism and innovative pre-electronic music score.

Bambi Meets Godzilla(en)

Bambi is nibbling the grass, unaware of the upcoming encounter with Godzilla. Who will win when they finally meet? Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2009.

The Watchmaker Monkey(es)

El Mono relojero is a 1938 Argentine animated short film directed by Quirino Cristiani. It is the only film from this director that exists up to this day, since all his other productions (including the first two animated feature films, El Apóstol (1917) and Sin dejar rastros (1918), as well as the first animated film with sound, Peludópolis (1931)) were lost in a series of fires at the facilities where the negatives and copies were stored.

An abundant fog has engulfed the coastal cove where Agatha lives, preventing her father, a humble fisherman, from returning home. Unable to take care of her, her mother casts her out.

Little Red Riding Hood(ru)

A classic Soviet, black-and-white, animated film by the sisters Brumberg, "grandmothers of the Russian animation". Its plot differs slightly from the original fairy tale.

Ab ovo - Traces of Sand(xx)

A non-narrative film thematising the eternal struggle of human life in a series of scenes connected by associations and accompanied by a strong music motif.

Extrapolate(nl)

A line is being extrapolated through a grid. When the line surpasses the boundaries of the grid, the process spreads to and reflects on its surroundings. Beyond each boundary the extrapolation of movement is causing deformation in a systematic but speculative way.

Bonzolino or – Bonzo Broadcasted(en)

Bonzo is rejected by his sweetheart, a pekinese called Chekee, who is enraptured by her favourite film stars. However, she readily accepts Bonzo after he has been to Hollywood, and returned as the famous actor Bon Chaney.

La Ballerine(xx)

When Agnès Varda was preparing the film Jacquot de Nantes in 1990, she was able to shoot in the small apartment where Jacques was raised. While emptying the attic, Agnès found pieces of 9.5 mm film, dry and folded, almost broken and two small cardboard figures. The film was impossible to project and the film had to be remade. Showing the pieces of film to Jacques he immediately identified La Ballerine. A student from the Fine Arts School of Nantes therefore redrew each shot, frame by frame, on blank 16 mm film.

This so-called ‘queer-joy’ is being discovered, providing inspiring and moving insights.

Mr. Chocolate Meets Miss Milk(en)

A black-and-white film that takes an ironic look at alienation between the races and the sexes. It is a mix of cell animation, painting, live action and early Atari computer animation.
